JUAN MARTIN (b. 1997), is a Spanish artist currently based in London. Martin earned his BA (Hons) in Illustration from the University of Brighton (2020), and completed The Drawing Year at the Royal Drawing School in 2023. Martin’s meticulous sketchbook practice serves as conduit between the unconscious mind and intuitive hand, observing the imagined and the materially present in tandem. Working primarily in drawing, Martin’s works originate from a single point and germinate outward into playful and dynamic compositions. In an ongoing series of flower drawings which reimagine desolate spaces, the botanic subjects embody a dual nature, at once ominous and beautiful, each distinctly personified through its unique form.
