GEORGIA GRINTER
GEORGIA GRINTER (b. 1995) is a British-born artist, residing in London. She received her BA from The Glasgow School of Art in 2018. Grinter offers a nuanced exploration of the circadian significance found in the mundanity of everyday life and its ephemera. Her work captures these 'things' that, while unremarkable and unchanging, stand out uniquely to each observer amidst a constantly evolving environment. At the heart of Grinter’s practice is an exploration of our unconscious affinities, whether through repeated interactions, a sense of comfort and security, or genuine aesthetic appeal. Exploring notions of place, belonging & the habitual, she reinterprets city signage, boundary lines, and discarded "rubbish" into arresting and beguiling, abstract articulations of shape and colour which hint at their material origin. In doing so, Grinter encourages viewers to engage with how external influences shape perspectives, challenging them to see the familiar in new and profound ways.
