DADDYBEARS

DaddyBears (b.1994) is a British artist working with textile sculpture. She received her MA in menswear design from the Royal College of Art, London (2017), and BA in fashion design from Middlesex University, London (2015). DaddyBears uses her knowledge of pattern cutting to create 3D sculptural objects which harbour aspects of fetish, objectophilia, childhood and adult forms of play, nostalgia and obsession. Rendered away from the body, DaddyBears revels in applying fresh immediacy to traditional techniques of patching, stitching and darning to creating subversively sacharine fantasy sculptures. The use of intense repetitive hand sewing featured throughout her practice is a homage to ‘women’s work’ and represents a meditative labour of love. These intimate techniques are also used to emote feelings of romance, escapism and humour.
