Anouk verviers

ANOUK VERVIERS (b. 1993) was born in Montreal CA and now lives and work in London (UK). An artist and researcher, Verviers holds an MFA from Goldsmiths, London (2023) and a BFA from UQAM (2017). Vervier acts as a dynamic voice in contemporary art, investigating power systems through non-systemic, experimental processes. Embracing instability, adaptability, and collaboration, Verviers' practice spans sound, woodwork, ceramics, drawing, archival materials, photography and the human body. Her creations—performances, installations, videos, sound pieces, and sculptures—aim to reveal the complex entanglements between ourselves, others, and the matter surrounding us. Recently, Verviers has turned her focus to the exhaustion of female and non-binary bodies, seeking to envision practices of care and resistance. This exploration is deeply rooted in her personal experience with chronic pain, presenting the chronically ill body as a hybrid entity intricately connected to others, treatments, and its environment. Her pieces invite us to confront and reconsider our perceptions, offering a profound and nuanced commentary on embodied existence.
