Alina Dieth
ALINA DIETH (b. 1995) is a German-born artist, currently based in London. Dieth is an alumnus of Camberwell College of Arts and the Royal Drawing School (MFA). Drawing from personal experience and memory, Dieth opens a window onto an interior world of quiet observation and contemplation. Playing with compositional devices such as scale, figures are depicted inhabiting the natural world, often in a liminal state between dream and waking. Through her medium choice of charcoal, Dieth works only with tone, thereby stripping her drawings of colour and medium-based complexity to prioritise emotion in its rawest form. Her masterful handling of Chiaroscuro (tonal light and dark) calls to mind the works of Francisco Goya (1746-1828).
